Slovak soldiers from the Air Force and Special Operations Forces managed to evacuate nearly 100 citizens from 12 countries from Beirut, Lebanon. The four flights were sent by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Ministry of the Interior, Webnoviny reports.
Safe return
Slovak soldiers transported more than two tonnes of food and medical supplies to Lebanon. The passengers had to make a difficult flight over dangerous routes in order to be able to use standard or civilian transport aircraft for the next flight.
Armed Forces spokesman Stefan Zemanovic confirmed to Webnoviny that the planes are a strategic reserve of the state and are ready for immediate use.
A clear mission
The C-27J Spartan's captain said their mission is to perform transport missions, particularly where "conventional transport aircraft cannot operate."
"As we have shown once again, we are ready to provide our capabilities wherever help is needed," he added.
