Police warn of fake SMS messages. Fraudsters want to get hold of data, hide behind transport companies

Police warn of a spreading fraudulent SMS message about non-delivery of parcels. Due to the high number of cases, this is a large-scale scam, it informs on social networks.

"When you click on the link that the scammer offers you in the message, it redirects you to the "supposedly" page of the Slovak Post. However, this site is designed to extort card details from you and whitewash your account," the police warn.

Shipping companies never send SMS messages saying a parcel has been "stuck in storage" or suspended because of a missing street number, it said. Shipping companies do not direct customers to a questionable route.

"Grammatical errors in fraudulent messages sent from abroad are also a warning sign," the social network warns.
